Accomplished coach, teacher and author Chad Parks joins the Ichabod football coaching staff for his third season mentoring the squad. Parks is in his 20th season as the head wrestling coach at Shawnee Heights High School. Parks is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a Topeka-area representative.

As the Thunderbirds head wrestling coach, he has received the 5A State Wrestling Coach of the Year, an eight-time 5A Regional Coach of the Year, the Centennial League Coach of the Year, a four-time boys and three-time girls United Kansas Conference Coach of the Year award and has been named the Topeka Wrestling Coach of the Year eight times. On the mat he has more than 200 dual wins as head coach after earning All-American honors as a wrestler at Labette Community College where he earned the college's athlete of the year award. 

In the classroom he was a three-time Academic All-American and wrote the book "Game Changing Moves" which reached No. 1 on Amazon's Best-Selling Book list.

Parks graduated from both Labette Community College and Fort Hays State.

He lives in Topeka with his wife Laurie, a former collegiate softball athlete at Buttler Community College and Fort Hays State, and they have four children, Kate, Ally, Luke and Jake.
