Jessica Mainz begins the first season of her second stint as a Lady Blues assistant coach, two years removed from her playing career at Washburn that included two MIAA defensive MVP honors. Mainz played at Washburn from 2005-06 to 2008-09.
The former guard is currently a girls basketball coach and math teacher at Washburn Rural Middle School. She graduated from Washburn with a bachelor’s degree in education in May of 2010 and currently lives in Topeka.
Mainz finished fifth in career assists at Washburn with 368. She scored 631 points with 422 rebounds. Her 216 free throws made is 15th in Washburn history. She earned all-MIAA second team her senior year and was named defensive MVP her final two years.
