Rob Robinson is in his 13th season on the Ichabod coaching staff and in 2009 he added the offensive coordinator to his duties. He will direct Washburn’s running backs for the seventh year after spending the previous five seasons as the wide receivers coach. At Washburn, Robinson has had six players receive various all-region selections and 18 players who have received all-MIAA honors at either wide receiver, running back, fullback or on kickoff returns and two All-American selections. He has guided the top two offenses and the top two passing seasons in school history. In 2011, he directed Dane Simoneau at quarterback to a second-place finish in the Harlon Hill Award for the National Player of the Year after becoming the first Ichabod signal caller to throw for more than 4,000 yards with 38 touchdowns.
In his first season as the Ichabod running backs coach in 2007, Robinson guided Ra’Shawn Mosley to the Washburn all-time rushing crown as he finished with 1,199 yards, four shy of the Ichabod single-season record. The Ichabods notched the third-highest single-season total in school history with 2,351 yards on 495 carries with 29 touchdowns. Ichabod Brandon Walker earned second team all-MIAA honors and Mosley finished as an honorable mention all-conference pick.
In the kickoff return game, the Ichabods’ Cary Williams finished 10th in the nation averaging 28.6 yards including a 100-yard return against Missouri Southern. Williams was a first team all-MIAA returner.
While coaching the Ichabod wide receivers, Robinson has coached four of the top seven receivers in school history including two all-MIAA selections, an all-region receiver as well as Sam Sissom, the No. 4 receiver all-time in the MIAA and Washburn’s career leader in receiving yards and receptions.
In 2004, he coached Sissom to become only the third Washburn receiver to go over the 1,000-yard mark as the Ichabods broke the school record for most passing yards in a season.
Robinson spent one season at Pittsburg State as a graduate assistant, coaching the defensive backs with Ichabod head coach Craig Schurig.
Robinson is a 2000 graduate from William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. He was a four-year letterman for the Cardinals at fullback, playing on special teams as well.Â
He was named the 1997 and 1998 Special Teams Player of the Year and was an all-conference selection his junior season. As a senior he was named to the Player’s Council and was a third team all-HAAC selection.
Robinson and his wife Jessica have two sons, Tabor and Beckett and one daughter, Grier.
