Background: As a senior he was a first-team all-state, all-league selection … also competed in track … as a junior he was a first-team all-league and all-state selection finishing second discus and third in the shot put at the league meet finishing fifth in the shot put and tenth in the discus at the state meet … a first-team all-league and honorable mention all-state selection as a sophomore finishing second in the league meet in the discus and third in the shot put with fifth-place shot put and seventh-place discus at the state meet … as a freshman he finished fourth in the shot put at the league meet was seventh in the shot put finishing seventh in the discus and fourth at the state meet.
