At Washburn: Has appeared in 23 games starting 11 tallying 63 tackles with 17.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks entering senior season … his 64 yards from sacks rank seventh on the Ichabod all-time chart and his sacks total is 10th all-time at Washburn.

In 2015: Started all 11 games at defensive end tying for the team-lead with six sacks for 42 yards … recorded 35 tackles overall with 19 solo stops and his 8.5 tackles for loss for 54 yards were second on the team … had a career-high 11 tackles with four tackles for loss and three sacks against Nebraska-Kearney … named the Ichabod defensive lineman of the week two times. 

In 2014: Played in 10 games and recorded 28 tackles with 11 solo stops and 17 assisted tackles … his nine tackles for loss was second on the team and his 32 yards from those tackles for loss led the team … his 4.5 sacks were tied for the team lead … had 22 yards from sacks … had a season-high eight tackles against Central Missouri … named Ichabod defensive lineman of the week twice.  

In 2013: Appeared in two games on the defensive line.

In 2012: A member of the practice squad but did not appear in any games … named the Ichabods work team defensive player of the week prior to the Lindenwood game.

Background: Was a second team all-state pick as a senior and a third team all-metro pick after his senior season … first team all-league honors as a junior and senior … played in the Blue/Gray All-Star game in Florida.

Personal: Son of George and Victoria Matthews … his father played football at Southeast Missouri … majoring in law enforcement.
