At Washburn: Will compete for time at defensive end.

In 2011: Sat out the season as a redshirt … named the Ichabod work team defensive player of the week for practice leading up to the Northwest Missouri and Abilene Christian games.

Background: Named first team all-league, all-region and all-state after recording 85 total tackles with 35 solo stops, 18 tackles for loss and three sacks … named second team all-conference and all-region … recorded 55 tackles with 13 sacks as a junior … named defensive scout player of the year as a sophomore and led the team as a freshman in solo tackles.

Personal: Son of Troy Penny and Shirley Phillips … undecided on major.
