Dave Brown

Dave Brown is in his eighth season as an assistant coach for the Ichabod basketball team after serving 17 seasons in the Jayhawk Conference as both a head coach and an assistant coach at Hutchinson Community College and Seward County Community College.

As part of the Ichabod coaching staff he has been to two NCAA Tournaments, a MIAA regular season and tournament championship and one 20-win season.

Brown was on the sidelines at Hutchinson Community College during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons for the Blue Dragons compiling a 43-12 record with two Region VI tournament quarterfinal appearances.

Before going to HCC, Brown was the head coach at Seward County Community College for 11 seasons, guiding the Saints to Jayhawk Conference Western Division titles in 1998 and 2002 and four other league runner-up finishes. Brown led the 1998 Saints to a Region VI championship and a third-place finish in the NJCAA Tournament.

He was named Jayhawk West coach of the year three times (1998, 2002 and 2005).

Before taking over the Seward County program in 1996, Brown served as an assistant at Seward County for four seasons under Dale Reed.

Brown is Seward County’s all-time coaching leader in wins with 253 wins against 104 losses. The 253 wins rank No. 7 in Region VI coaching history.

During his tenure at Seward County, Brown coached four first-team NJCAA All-Americans, five Jayhawk West Most Valuable Players, three Jayhawk West Freshmen of the Year and nine of the top 10 leading scorers in Saints basketball history.

Brown earned an Associate of Arts degree from Fort Scott Community College in 1975 and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1978.

Brown has three children: Heather, who lives in Austin, Texas with her husband Scott and three children, Hannah, Joey and Justin. Another daughter, Nicole lives in Tahlequah, Okla. with husband Josh who is the defensive coordinator at Northeastern State with their children Jeremiah, Natalie, Jack and Joel. His son Jason lives in Foley, Ala., with his wife Aly and daughter Everly.
