Garrett Love

Former Ichabod forward Garrett Love is in his first season as a student assistant coach of the Washburn basketball team. Love was a two-year letterwinner for the Ichabods who began playing basketball at Washburn in the fall of 2006. He was a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Before arriving at Washburn, the Montezuma, Kansas native was an all-state basketball and football selection who received 16 varsity letters during his time at South Gray High School. On the academic side, he graduated valedictorian of his class and was the 2006 Kansas Wendy’s High School Heisman Winner.

Love maintains a 4.0 GPA majoring in Economics, Management, and Finance, and currently serves as Washburn's Student Body President which played a role in his transition from player to coach on the basketball team. His concern for the educational side of the student-athlete’s experience at Washburn has led to him currently coordinating two mandatory study halls a week for the basketball team.
