Jake Schadegg begins his first season as a student assistant coach after wrapping up a three-year playing career for the Ichabods.
Over his Washburn career, he has appeared in 56 games with one start, scoring 181 points while averaging 3.2 points per game. He has also contributed 42 assists and 24 steals and is a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
As a senior in 2024-25, he played in 24 games and made a start on Senior Day, finishing the season with 50 points. He scored a season-high 12 points against Ottawa in the home opener and connected on 11 of 27 three-point attempts for a 41 percent clip. He was again recognized on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
In 2023-24, he played in 24 games and averaged 5.0 points per game, knocking down 25 of 61 three-pointers while adding 32 assists. He scored a career-high 14 points in the season opener against Sioux Falls, going 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, and recorded five assists in two different games. He was also named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
During the 2022-23 campaign, he appeared in eight games, with seven coming in MIAA play, scoring 10 points with two made three-pointers while adding four rebounds and two steals. He tallied three points in two separate contests and earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll recognition.
Before arriving at Washburn, he played at Rend Lake College, where he averaged 11.3 points per game over his career while shooting 39.4 percent from three-point range. As a sophomore, he started all 25 games, averaging 11.3 points and shooting 87 percent from the free-throw line. He also earned academic recognition on the vice president’s and president’s honor rolls.
At Mater Dei High School, he averaged 15 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game as a senior, finishing his career as the school’s all-time leader in three-pointers made. He earned all-state honorable mention honors and was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches All-State Team. As a junior, he averaged 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists per game. He was a four-year member of the honor roll.
A kinesiology major, he is the son of Ron and Shelly and has one sister, Lindsey.
