Matt Hundley

Former Washburn Ichabod basketball player Matt Hundley enters his fourth season on the Ichabod bench after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at Barton County Community College.

In three seasons at Washburn, Hundley has helped lead the Ichabods to a 57-33 record including back to back 20-wins in the last two seasons.

On the recruiting trail, Hundley has been instrumental in signing the last three classes while also increasing the presence of the Ichabod basketball program on social media through twitter and instagram.

While at Washburn, the Ichabods have had an All-American, two MIAA Defensive Player of the Year awards, five all-MIAA selections, two all-region honorees and 48 all-MIAA Academic picks.

During his five seasons on the Cougar bench, Hundley has helped guide the Cougars to a 117-43 record including two trips to the Region VI Final Four.

Prior to Barton, Hundley spent four seasons at Topeka West High School, with the best of the seasons coming in his final year falling in the Class 5A State Championship game.  For his team’s efforts, Hundley was tabbed City Co-Coach of the Year by the Topeka Capital-Journal.

Prior to his coaching at Topeka West, Hundley was the coach at Lyndon High School for two seasons and started his coaching career fresh out of college as a student assistant and graduate assistant at Washburn for two seasons. He played collegiately at Washburn helping the Ichabods to a national runner-up finish at the 2001 NCAA Division II National Championships. The Ichabods won the MIAA that year as well.

Hundley graduated from Washburn in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in education and physical education and then received his master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports management from Central Missouri in 2013.

Hundley lives in Topeka with his wife Amber.
