Background: A three-sport standout finishing second at the state cross country meet as a senior winning the conference title and was named the boys runner of the year and was the sectional runner up and in track was the conference winner in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m winning the regional title in both and was the sectional champion in the 1600m and the 3200m and the state champion in the 1600m earning boys runner of the year honors, first-team all-league finishing also finishing third at the state meet in the 3200m … as a junior he was the league and sectional champion finishing second at the state meet in cross country earning first-team all-state honors and in track was the conference winner in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m also winning regional titles in 800m and 1600m and was the state runner up in the 1600m and 3200m earning boys runner of the year honors and first-team all-league and team MVP honors … his sophomore season he was the league champion in cross country and a first-team all-league selection and was team MVP placing 24th at the state mme and was the the league's track champion in the 1600m and 3200m and won the 1600m at the regional meet and was sixth at the state meet in the 3200m … as a freshman he was the league champ and finished second at the sectional meet finishing 25th at the state meet and was named the league's runner of the year and team MVP and was a first-team all-league selection and in track he won conference titles in the 1600m and 3200m winning the regional title in the 3200m and was all-league and team MVP … also played basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society.
