Washburn University Athletics

Former Ichabod Raul-Alin Dicu is in his second season on the Washburn coaching staff after serving as a graduate assistant coach in 2022-23. The three-time All-MIAA selection enters the 2023-24 season as a volunteer assistant. 

Dicu was named the ITA Central Region men’s Assistant Coach of the Year after the 2022-23 season in which he helped Washburn win the MIAA/GAC Tournament Championship and reach the National Round of 16.  

Dicu finished his five year career at Washburn 16th all-time in singles wins with a 53-41 record and 18th in doubles going 53-41. He was named an All-MIAA honorable mention twice for No. 1 singles as well as once at No. 6 singles after his freshman season. He earned the same recognition once for No. 2 doubles as well. 

Off the court, Dicu was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll all five years, and was named a MIAA Scholar-Athlete three times while also winning the Academic Excellence award his senior season. 

Dicu is from Arad, Romania, and currently lives in Topeka. He earned his degree in finance in May 2021 and graduated with his MBA in 2023.
