At Washburn: Has competed in 20 total events as an Ichabod … has the ninth-best individual performance in the high jump during the indoor season … a seven-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2023-24: Sat out the indoor and outdoor seasons as a redshirt … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.  

In 2022-23: Competed in nine events finishing a season-best third at the ESU Relays in the high jump clearing 1.85m (6-00.75) … placed fourth in the 800m at the indoor Washburn Alumni Invitational in a time of 2:08.76 … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. 

In 2021-22: Finished third in the high jump at the Washburn Open with a mark of 1.80m (5-10.75) and had a personal best at the Ichabod Mid-Week Challenge at 1.95m (6-00.75) … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2020-21 (cross country): Did not compete … (track and field): finished 20th in the 800m at the All-Kansas Invitational in a time of 2:19.08 and had his best mark in the high jump during the outdoor season at the SBU Invite at 1.84m (6-00.50) finishing seventh … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. 

Background: Named the 2020 Topeka Shawnee County Male Athlete of the Year … a multi-sport athlete at Silver Lake High School competing in track, cross country, football and basketball ... competed in four different track events at the state competition and received All-State honors in the high jump his junior year ... earned All-State cross country recognition back-to-back years after placing 19th and then second his senior year ... was named Topeka Capital Journal All-State honorable mention defensive back in football and was also a KCCTFCA academic All-State selection as a senior.

Personal: Son of Alan and Stephanie Kaniper ... has three brothers, Kamryn, Koltyn, and Tanner ... his father, Alan, played football for Washburn ... majoring in economics.
