Jessica Rayman begins her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Ichabod softball team and she will work with Washburn’s outfielders and catching and pitching staffs.Â
While at Washburn she has coached eight Ichabod players who have gone on to garner all-MIAA honors and two who have garnered all-region accolades.
Prior to joining Washburn, Rayman spent the 2010 season as the head coach at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo., leading the Rattlers to a 29-24 record and a berth in the regional tournament.
Rayman is from Louisville, Colo., and began making a name for herself on the softball field as a pitcher at Monarch High School. Rayman helped the Coyotes win two Front Range League Championships. During her high school career, she was twice named first team all-conference, team MVP and Athlete of the Month. Rayman participated in the All-State Game and holds the record for season and career ERA and consecutive starts without a loss. She also made Academic All-State, Front Range All-Academic Team, and was awarded an Academic Team Champion Certificate of Achievement.
After graduating high school, Rayman went on to pitch for the Mesa State Mavericks in Grand Junction, Colo. She helped lead the team to an RMAC regular season championship in 2007. In 2009 the Mavericks finished second in the RMAC Tournament, where Rayman made the All-Tournament Team. The Mavericks would continue on to play in the NCAA Regional Tournament, where Rayman helped them advance on to the Super Regional. During her college career, Rayman received All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Rayman graduated in 2009 from Mesa State College with a bachelor of science degree in sports management.
