Tara Griffith

Former Washburn Lady Blues softball player Tara Griffith returns to campus in her first season as an assistant coach this season.

Griffith most recently spent 14 years as an assistant softball coach at Washburn Rural High School, where she served as an assistant to Brenda Holaday. Griffith helped the Junior Blues to two state championships coming in 2008 and 2014 and numerous state finishes. While at Rural, Griffith was in charge of outfield and volunteer activities.

For the past 14 years in addition to coaching softball at WRHS, she has served as a chemistry teacher, teaching all levels of chemistry. Griffith is still teaching chemistry at WRHS.

Griffith is a native of WaKeeney Kan. She attended Colby Community College on a softball scholarship and then transferred to Washburn playing the 1998 and 1999 seasons as a Lady Blue helping the program to its first NCAA Regional appearance. In the classroom she was a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
