Sara Matthews is in her first season as a graduate assistant for the women’s soccer team after graduating from Baker University in May of 2009 with a major in business management and marketing.
Matthews served as the team captain at Baker her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons leading the team to the playoff tournaments in 2007 and 2008. She achieved Heart of America all conference honors and finished as the leading scorer her freshman and sophomore years. Matthews traveled to Germany and Austria to compete against semi-professional teams the summer before her junior season and also received the 2007-2008 student senate female athlete of the year award.
Matthews holds a National “D” coaching license. In the spring of 2009 she coached at Shawnee Mission West High School as a varsity assistant and head junior varsity coach leading the team to 2nd in the JV Sunflower League. She is active in coaching youth in the Kansas City area including leading the summer soccer camps at Johnson County Community College and helping with the Kansas Rush Soccer Club in 2007 and 2008.
She is pursuing her master’s degree in business administration.
