Kyle Gibson

Kyle Gibson is in his third season as the assistant coach for the Ichabod cross country and track and field teams.  Gibson has mentored two-time All-American and two-time All-Conference distance runner, Jacob Klemz.  Additionally, Gibson has coached athletes recording eight NCAA provisional qualifying marks for Washburn, two conference champions, three total National qualifiers, two academic All-Americans, and one USA Junior National qualifier.

Prior to joining Washburn, Gibson spent one season at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C.  He was an assistant coach for the 2015 school year before serving as the interim head coach of the program over the summer.  While at Belmont Abbey, he was responsible for the largest recruiting class since 2010, and coached four individuals to championships in 2015, including the school's first-ever Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Most Valuable Performer.  Gibson coached two individual women champions at both the Conference Carolinas indoor and outdoor meets.

Prior to Belmont Abbey, Gibson spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Saint Francis (PA), where he was part of the 2013 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year, guiding the women's outdoor squad to a second place finish in the 2013 NEC Championships.  During his first season with the Saint Francis men's cross country team, Gibson helped the team place third in the conference championships (up from ninth in the previous season).

As a student-athlete at Saint Francis, Gibson was named a First Team All-Conference performer at the 2011 indoor championships after his Distance Medley Relay team took first place.  He was a member of the outdoor 4x1500 team that set the school record in 2011 with a time of 16:16. Gibson also earned All-Conference Third Team honors at the 2010 indoor conference championships with a third place finish in the mile run.
