Biography

At Washburn: A 13-time all-MIAA selection between cross country and track … owns school record in cross country in the 5K and 6K ... owns the school record in the indoor mile, 3000m, 5000m … has school records in the outdoor 3000m steeplechase and second-fastest time in the 5000m and fourth-best in the 1500m … has seven fastest times in indoor 5000m in program history and seven of the 10 fastest times in the 3000m in program history …  a 15-time member of the MIAA Academic, 15-time MIAA Academic Excellence Award winner and a 13-time MIAA Scholar Athlete.

In 2021-22 (cross country): Earned a season-high fourth-place finish at the FHSU Tiger Open with a running time of 17:55.7 which is the second-best 5K time ... she topped that time for the best in program history at the MSSU Stampede with a 17:53.10 running time ... also taking the best program 6K time at the NCAA Central Regional, running a 21:28.20 for a 18th-place finish ... member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and earned MIAA Scholar Athlete and the Academic Excellence Award (track): earned second-team all-MIAA honors after placing second in the 3000m at the conference indoor championships and also placed sixth in the 5000m at the same meet. …  … 

In 2020-21 (cross country): Earned seventh place with a time of 22:12.4 at the Newman Teams Championships in the 6K course… placed 10th in the 6K course at the DII National Invitational with a time of 22:57.8 … (track): Named all-region by the USTFCCCA in the 5000m during the indoor season … earned all-MIAA in both the 3000m (10:11.06) and the 5000m (17:42.22) after finishing second in both events … won the mile at the All-Kansas Invite during indoor season with a time of 5:18.24 … recorded a personal-best in the 1500m at the SBU Invite in a time of 4:42.51 … finished second in the 3000m steeplechase at the Drake Relays and the Wichita State Open … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and MIAA Academic Excellence and MIAA Scholar Athlete listings.

In 2018-19 (cross country): Finished third at the SBU Invitational in a time of 18.55.29 and was ninth at the MIAA Championships in a time of 22:25.1 … placed 46th at the NCAA Central Region Championships … (track): Finished second in the 3000m steeplechase a the MIAA Outdoor Championships setting a school record in a time of 11:00.13 … finished third in the 5000m at the MIAA Outdoor Championships in a time of 17:55.01 … finished fifth and seventh at the MIAA Indoor Championships in the 3000m and the 5000m respectively.

In 2017-18 (cross country): Became the first Ichabod to qualify for the NCAA Championships after finishing 11th at the NCAA Regional … won her first collegiate race at the SBU Invite and placed second at the ESU Invite the following week … finished 10th at the MIAA Championships earning all-MIAA honors and was the leading Ichabod runner in all five events during the season … (track) Finished first at the MIAA Indoor Championships becoming the first Ichabod to claim an individual title in an event in a time of 17:33.67 … also finished third in the 3000m at the MIAA Indoor Championships in a time of 10:00.87 setting a school record … finished first at the Gorilla Classic in the 5000m in a time of 17:16.91 … had six top-five finishes during the indoor season … during the outdoor season she finished third in the MIAA Championships in the 5000m and sixth in the 1500m … had a personal best time of 4:47.61 taking fourth at the Laptad Invite setting a school record and set another school record at the Mt. SAC Relays in the 5000m in a time of 17:18.06 … won the ESU Relays in a time of 4:50.36 in the 1500m run.

Background: As a senior in cross country, she earned all-state honors and finished fourth at the state meet as team won state championship … finished second in the mile at the state track and field meet and third in the 3200m run … was also a first team all-league pick in basketball … as a junior she took eighth at the state cross country meet earning all-state honors and finished fourth in the 3200m run at state and seventh in the 1600m run … named first team all-league in basketball … named second team all-league in basketball as a sophomore and was honorable mention all-league as a freshman … will also play basketball at Washburn.

Personal: Daughter of David and Leslie Mortensen … majoring in nursing.
