Monica Miesner had a double-double as the fifth-ranked Lady Blues won their 23rd straight match, 30-25, 30-22, 30-23 Thursday night over Fort Hays State at Lee Arena. Washburn (28-1, 9-0 MIAA) has swept its last seven opponents and has won 24 straight games. The match and game winning streaks are both school records.

The Lady Blues will continue MIAA action Saturday at 4:30 p.m. with a match against Missouri Western.

Miesner had 20 digs and set down 16 kills as she hit .500 during the night. Tessa Jones had 15 kills and hit .400. Washburn, the MIAA leader in attack percentage, hit .294 as a team while FHSU hit just .156 during the night.

Kate Hampson set 43 assists with nine digs and four kills. Erica Cowhick had nine digs and Molly Smith followed with eight.

Jones led the Lady Blues with five blocks with a solo effort and four assists while Mandi Cox and Stephanie Nitz each totaled three blocks.

Washburn's win did not appear easy at the beginning as the Tigers kept the score close for much of the first game. The score was tied at 11-11 and then later at 20-20 and 25-25 before the Lady Blues scored the final five points of the game for the win.

In game two the Lady Blues hit .405 and then in game three both teams hit poorly but Washburn was able to hold on for the win.
