TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-2 win over Nebraska-Kearney. The Ichabods were playing short-handed and defaulted the No. 3 doubles flight and the No. 6 singles flight to the Lopers.

The Ichabods lost only seven games in the five singles matches which were played. In doubles play, Washburn picked up an 8-1 win at No. 1 with Brad Johnston and Branden Joost topping the Lopers' Josh Raymond and Casey Colbert. Drew Hanson and Ryan Ward blanked Tony Lopez and Mike Ambritz 8-0.
