WICHITA, Kan. -- The No. 34 ranked Washburn Ichabods put up a good fight against NCAA Division I foe Wichita State, but fell 7-0. Washburn (7-4, 3-0 MIAA) will be in action this weekend when they face the No. 22 ranked Southwest Baptist Bearcats in Bolivar. The Bearcats are 3-1 in MIAA play this season.

Ryan Ward at No. 3 singles and Adam Rens at No. 6 singles took their Shocker counterparts to three sets with Ward falling 6-2 in the third set and Rens dropping a 10-8 third set decision.

The Ichabods' No. 1 doubles duo of Brad Johnston and Branden Joost dropped a tough 9-8 decision to the Shockers top team of Vladamir Marinescu and Adrian Chermaci losing the tie breaker 7-5. Ryan Ward and Drew Hanson fell at No. 2 doubles 8-2 and the No. 3 doubles match was not completed as the match was halted because of lightning in the area with Simon Blondin and Yann Kasay trailing 8-7 before the match was called.
