EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues split their only two games of the March MIAA Crossover falling to Nebraska-Omaha 5-2 before rebounding to top Missouri Western 12-7. Washburn (10-9) will be back in action on March 23 when they will play host to Dana at 2 p.m. at the Washburn softball complex.

Tish Williams put Washburn up early with her sixth home run of the season putting Washburn up 1-0 in the first inning, but the Mavericks scored two in the top of the second and added three more in the top of the fifth leading them to the 5-2 win. Washburn added its other run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by
Lindsey Moore.
Kayla Long (5-6) took the loss with four strike outs. The Lady Blues stranded 11 base runners in the game.
Washburn 12, Missouri Western 7
Tish Williams hit her seventh home run of the season and her MIAA-leading 56th of her career while going 3 for 3 to lead Washburn to the 12-7 win over Missouri Western snapping a three-game losing streak to the Griffons.
Ashley Podschun drove in five in the game going 2 for 4 recording a bases loaded double in the third inning. Washburn scored five in the second inning after the Griffons took an early 2-0 lead after their first at bat in the game. Washburn recorded a season-high 16 hits in the game. For the second straight day,
Kelsie Novotny came in the game in relief picking up the win improving to 3-1 on the season.
