TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Lady Blues rallied for two late goals to beat Emporia State 2-1 on Saturday night at Yager Stadium. Washburn scored two goals in 17 seconds, a school-record, to extend their winning streak over the Hornets to 11 games.
Emporia State (0-6-1, 0-5-0 MIAA) struck first with an unassisted goal from Lauren Cathey in the 34th minute. She struck the shot from 30 yards out and beat Lady Blues keeper

Just when it looked like Washburn's 10-game winning streak over ESU would come to an end
Markie Gallagher tied the game with a blast from 30 yards out to the far post. The Lady Blues quickly stole possession and Gallagher sent a ball through to a racing
Leah Talley who beat the keeper to the near post to give Washburn the 2-1 lead.
Klone made three saves in net for the Lady Blues (3-3-1, 3-2-0 MIAA), while ESU's Natalie Hoernig made two saves.
The Lady Blues are back in action next Thursday, September 30 when they host Truman State at 6 p.m. at Yager Stadium.
