OMAHA, Neb. -- The Washburn Ichabods won their fourth straight game in a 88-79 win over Nebraska-Omaha Saturday night Sapp Fieldhouse moving the Ichabods into sole possession of third place in the MIAA standings. Washburn (11-5, 8-4 MIAA) will face Northwest Missouri on Wednesday in Maryville, Mo.
In the first half, the Ichabods led by as many as 10 in the opening stanza at 28-18 while taking a seven point lead at the break after a
Mitch Allen connected on a 3-pointer with 31 seconds to go staking Washburn to a 43-34 lead. In the half the Ichabods finished 15 of 29 from the field hitting 52 percent of their shots. The Ichabods finished 6 of 11 from 3-point range and 7 of 11 from the free throw line. UNO was held to 46 percent shooting on 12 of 26 shooting and 4 of 9 shooting from 3-point range.
In the second half, UNO cut the lead to four at 59-55 with 10:36 to go, but an 11-2 run by the Ichabods built the lead back to 13 and UNO would not get closer than five the rest of the way after three free throws by Jeff Martin, but a free throw by
Jeff Reid and a dunk by
Nate Daniels ended the scoring.
Washington and Stutz finished with game-high 24 points while Washington added a double double adding a career-high 11 assists. Stutz, who entered the game leading the nation in field goal percentage, finished 8 of 12 from the field while also going 8 of 12 from the free throw line while dishing out a career high six assists.
Jeff Reid scored 14 on 6 of 7 shooting.
Mitch Alberts led the Mavericks with 20 points while Tyler Bullock scored 19 and Alex Welhouse scored 15.
The Ichabods finsished 30 of 53 for the game from the field hitting 57 percent of their shots while going 15 of 24 from the field in the second half for a 63 percent.
