Lady Blues take care of business in 3-0 sweep at Truman

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Lady Blues trailed just  twice as they took care of business in a 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 sweep at Truman Friday night. The fifth-ranked Lady Blues won their 17th straight match and improved to 24-1 and 10-0 in the MIAA.

Hillary Hughes and Breanna Lewis led the Lady Blues with 12 kills each. Hughes added 11 digs for her ninth double-double of the year and Lewis led the Lady Blues with three blocks. Mollie Lacy had nine kills with no errors in 17 attacks to hit .529. She's had 23 kills with no errors in the last two matches for a .638 attack percentage.

Abby Wittman led the Washburn offense to a .230 attack percentage. She had 45 assists and added 13 digs for her 13th double-double of the year.

Kelsey Lewis led the back row with 17 digs and Amanda Guess added 16. Jennifer Yoder had 11.

There were 13 ties in the match but Truman could only take the lead early in the second set. The Bulldogs went up 2-0 and then 3-2. Washburn then scored nine of the next 14 points to take control, 11-7. Two kills from Jessica Kopp later made the score 18-12 before the Bulldogs climbed within two at 18-16. Washburn later won three straight points and then closed the set on a kill from Breanna Lewis.

There were five ties in the third set before Washburn went on a 5-0 run to take a 12-7 lead. Hughes had three kills during the run. The Bulldogs never within three after that.

Allie Brak had a double-double for Truman with 12 kills and 14 digs.
