TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues topped Missouri Western 8-1 to remain in a first place tie in the MIAA standings with Emporia State and with a win over Fort Hays State on Saturday, the Lady Blues would be the No. 1 seed in the MIAA Championship Tennis Tournament. With a win over the Tigers and an Emporia State loss to either Nebraska-Omaha, Washburn would be the outright champion.
Washburn rolled through doubles play dropping only four games including a shutout at No. 3 doubles by 
Elektra Hunter and 
Annie Doole. 
Jamie Blackim and 
Alyssa Castillo picked up an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles while 
Morgan Rainey and 
Whitley Zitsch won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 1 singles Rainey cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win while Zitsch picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. 
Jamie Blackim also had a 6-0, 6-0 win with her's coming at No. 4 singles while 
Alyssa Castillo and 
Kristin McKee each dropped only one game while Castillo's came in the first set while Field's came in the second set.
