Season Stats

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues tennis team was knocked off by Northwest Missouri in the semifinals of the MIAA Tennis Tournament 5-4 at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City. Washburn will now wait until early next week to discover its postseason fate.

Washburn, who won the MIAA regular season championship, lost for the second time to the Bearcats this season. The Lady Blues took two of three doubles matches to open play as the No. 1 team of Jamie Blackim and Alyssa Castillo topped Erika Leston and Leslee Feldhaus 8-4 while the No. 2 team of Morgan Rainey and Whitley Zitsch defeated Alexis Bartek and Emily Hoffman 8-0.

Rainey won her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-0 over Leston while Blackim won at No. 4 singles over Rocio Rapollo 6-1, 6-0 to wrap up the scoring for the Lady Blues. The Bearcats won singles matches at Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6 completing the match win.
