Ichabods open home slate with rout over Bobcats

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod basketball team improved to 3-0 with a home-opening 92-66 win over Peru State on Monday night on Schendel Court at Lee Arena. The Ichabods will return to action on Nov. 18 when they will take on Kansas Wesleyan.

<%--2013-14 Ichabod MBB vs Peru State Gallery--%>The Ichabods led from start to finish as four starters reached double figures led by Stephon Drane and Christian Ulsaker who each had 15 to tie for game-high honors. Alex North recorded his second-straight double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Washburn led 38-29 at the half after shooting 41 percent, but they were outshot by the Bobcats who hit 11 of 23 shots in the opening half. In the second half, the Ichabods improved to a blistering 59 percent from field hitting 23 of 39 shots to finish at 50 percent from the field for the game.

The game was tied early at 12-12 before the ichabods would go on an 18-7 run over the next 7:22 to put the game out of reach. Washburn would lead by as many as 30 in the game at 82-52 with 5:04 left in the match.

Chris Deanes scored 13 and Kyle Wiggins scored 12.

Washburn had a 50 to 33 advantage on the glass outscoring 52 to 30 in the paint. Washburn also forced 15 turnovers turning those miscues into 21 points.
