ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues softball team was swept in a pair of MIAA doubleheaders falling 10-0 and 14-5 by MIssouri Western on Friday night in St. Joseph. The Lady Blues will be in action on Saturday at Northwest Missouri.
Missouri Western (31-11, 15-5 MIAA) broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the second with two runs and then they added four in the third and four more in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead wrapping the game up after five innings. Washburn (9-29, 5-15 MIAA) was limited to three hits by Griffon starter Jackie Bishop who struck out 10 Washburn batters.

Shelby Erickson each had singles and
Deidra Jones had a double for Washburn.
In the second game, the Griffons jumped out to a 3-0 lead and then the Lady Blues took the lead scoring five runs in the top of the third inning.
Leah Garland led off the inning with a single.
Skyler Gentry had a single. Washburn's big hit came from
Alex Zordel as she had a 2 RBI single. Erickson and Jones each had an RBI in the inning as they sent 10 to the plate in the frame. The Griffons came back with 10 runs in the third inning and added one more in the fourth taking the 14-5 lead. Washburn finished with six hits in the second game.
