No. 31 Ichabod tennis team opens season at No. 29 Drury Saturday

Week one Ichabod men's tennis notes

Warm ups . . . 
The No. 31-ranked Washburn Ichabod men's tennis team will open the season on Feb. 1-2 in Springfield, Mo., when they will face No. 29 Drury on Saturday and East Central (Okla.) the following day.
Drop shots . . . 
• The Ichabods are looking to make the NCAA Regional tournament for the second-straight season and the 14th time in school history.
• The Ichabods finished the three tournaments in the fall with a 19-21 comined singles record while going 12-9 in doubles play.
• The Ichabods have four seniors on the squad this season with two juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen.
• The duo of Arek Kozaczuk and Steven Fletcher were 5-2 and won the No. 1 doubles flight of the Midwestern State Invitational.
• Kozaczuk and Fletcher are the ninth-ranked doubles team in the region in the Nov. 13 rankings.
• Bobby Florence's 54 career singles wins is tied for 10th on Washburn's all-time win chart.
• Florence is ranked eighth in the Central region in singles play.
• In the fall Florence was 5-3 in singles. 
• Thilo Schlenker is ranked No. 13 in the regional singles rankings and Steven Fletcher is ranked No. 16 in the regional rankings.

The Ichabods will face NCAA foe Wichita State on Feb. 22 in Wichita and then Ouachita Baptist on Feb. 27 in Lawton, Okla. OBU is ranked No. 24 in the latest national poll and No. 2 in the ITA regional rankings behind MIAA foe Northwest Missouri.
