TOPEKA, Kan. – The Ichabods played their first of two exhibition games this year and defeated Livin' The Dream 89-71 Wednesday night at Schendel Court in Lee Arena.

Washburn will play its final exhibition Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kansas before opening the regular season November 15 at Puerto Rico-Bayamon.

Taylor Ignoto came off the bench and went 7 of 15 from the field to lead the Ichabods with 17 points. Emily Gamble, a transfer from Northeast CC (Neb.) also played off the bench and scored 16 points as she was 4 of 6 from the field and 7 of 7 from the free throw line. Casyn Buchman hit three 3-pointers and had 11 points and Honor Duvall was 3 of 4 from the field and 4 of 6 from the line for 10 points.

The Ichabods fell behind quickly, 8-0 to Livin' The Dream, a travelling exhibition team made up of former college players. The Bods forged their own 8-0 run to tie the game with 14 minutes remaining in the first half and then after an 11-11 tie, they took the lead for good on a lay-up from Ignoto.

A 3-pointer from Buchman with nine minutes remaining gave the Bods their first double-digit lead and they kept it at 10 or above the rest of the way. Washburn led 48-29 at halftime and built a game-high 21-point lead with just under four minutes left in the game.

The Ichabods shot just 37 percent in the game while Livin' The Dream shot 41 percent. Washburn dominated on rebounds, 57-34 and blocked four shots while Livin' The Dream had one block.

Leah Cotton, a former player from Minnesota, led Livin' The Dream with 24 points. She hit 7 of 16 field goals and 9 of 10 free throws.

Felisha Gibbs, an Oklahoma transfer, led the Ichabods with eight rebounds and she added eight points. Janelle Travis had five assists to lead the Bods.

Washburn improved to 3-0 all-time against Livin' The Dream and 7-3 in home exhibition games under coach Ron McHenry. The Ichabods will go into Sunday's game 3-13 against Division I schools in exhibitions.
