WICHITA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team was tied at the break with Newman but a second half goal by the Jets was too much to overcome in a 2-1. Washburn will open MIAA play on Friday at Emporia State.
The Ichabods (0-4) fell behind the Jets (3-1-1) when Mei-Mei Senthavy scored her second goal of the season in the 10th minute staking the home team to a 1-0 lead.
Emily Stauffer knotted the score at 1-1 in the 19th minute when she recorded her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Sara Specht.Â
The score remained tied until the 54th minute when Maricela Ruvalcaba notched her fourth goal of the season for what turned out to be the match-winner as the Jets picked up the 2-1 win.
The Ichabods were outshot 8 to 4 in the match.
Tori Fuglister had three saves in the match facing eight shots.
