Ichabods topped by Lions on late penalty kick

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods fell 1-0 on Friday night in Yager Stadium as the Lindenwood Lions connected on a penalty kick with 6:09 left to play. Washburn will host No. 17 Central Missouri on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Lindenwood's Danielle Torry scored her first goal of the season on the penalty kick as it went into the lower left hand side of the net past a diving Tori Fuglister for the only goal of the match. The play was set up after the Lions' Becky Roberts was taken down in the penalty box.

The Ichabods outshot the Lions in the first half 5 to 4, but the Lions outshot the Ichabods in the second half 8 to 3. Fuglister finished with three saves in the match. Melissa Weiss had three saves for the Lions as she picked up the shutout. 

It was a physical game as the teams were whistled for 31 fouls with 17 coming aagainst the Ichabods. Eight different players had shot attempts for the Ichabods while Kirsten Crabtree led the Lions with four before leaving the game with 3:18 to play after receiving a yellow card.
