EDMOND, Okla. – The Ichabods ended the first half on a 12-3 run and then scored the first nine points of the second half to take their first and only lead in a 55-50 win Thursday night at Central Oklahoma.

Washburn (13-4, 5-4 MIAA) will play its final game of a four-game road trip Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Northeastern State. The Bronchos lost at home for the first time this year and fell to 13-6 and 6-4 in the MIAA.

The Bods trailed by 12 with six minutes remaining in the first half. They then went on a 12-1 run to get within one point with 27 seconds remaining. UCO hit two free throws after that to end the half with a 25-22 lead.

The Ichabods then took their first lead of the game by scoring nine straight points in the second half. A 3-pointer from
Taylor Ignoto gave the Bods the lead at 18:43 and they held that lead the rest of the way. Buchman's 3-pointer four minutes later put the Bods up by a game-high nine at 36-27.

The Bronchos tried to use the long ball to get back in the game but they were 0 of 22 from 3-point range before they hit their first trey with 3:36 remaining. That basket cut Washburn's lead to six but Ignoto answered right away with a 3 to push the lead back to nine.

Buchman led Washburn with 18 points as she was 3 of 8 from 3-point range and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. She also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Ally Nikkel scored 11 with a 4 of 6 performance from the field. She led all players with five assists.

The Bods turned the ball over 24 times while UCO had eight giveaways. Washburn made up for that stat by leading the rebound battle, 47-29. The Ichabods also held an advantage by shooting 42 percent from the field while UCO shot 24 percent. UCO ended the game 2 of 29 from long range. Washburn hit 5 of 17 3-pointers.

Jayna Smith had six with seven rebounds.
Felisha Gibbs grabbed seven rebounds as a reserve.

Kylie Mayes led the Bronchos with 15 points while Olivia Mason had 10. The Bronchos started the year 6-0 at home before the loss.
