BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Washburn's
Presley Wiggins became the first Ichabod to score two goals in a single match in more than two years but it wasn't enough as a late goal was the difference in a 3-2 win by Southwest Baptist on Saturday. Washburn will return to the pitch at Missouri Southern in a make up match on Monday in Joplin, Mo.
The Ichabods battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit with Wiggins scoring the first of her two goals in the 51st minute off a deflection from the goalie and then less than six minutes later added another off a corner kick from
Morgan El-Attrache finding the back of the net.
Neither team would score until the Bearcats' Averi Walker scored off a rebound from a shot in the 85th minute for the game-winner.
Washburn attempted six corner kicks to the Bearcats' four in the match including a 5 to 2 advantage in the second half.
Wiggins had three shots in the match with two goals becoming the first Ichabod since
Bailey Wobig did on Sept. 29, 2013 also against Southwest Baptist. Wobig also had three shots with two coming on goal.
Kaitlin Minnich had six saves in net for the Ichabods.
