JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over Missouri Southern in a game which was restarted after the match on Oct. 15 after lightning canceld the game. Washburn returns to action on Friday at Fort Hays State.
After a scoreless first half in which the Ichabods outshot the Lions 10 to 3,
Paige Swanson scored her third goal of the season off an assist from
Presley Wiggins putting Washburn (4-7-3, 3-3-1 MIAA) up 1-0 in the 51st minute.
The Ichabod defense kept the Lion offense in check as they limited Missouri Southern (2-11-1, 0-7-1 MIAA) to only one shot in the second half as Washburn outshot the Lions 18 to 6 in the match.
Kaitlin Minnich picked up her fourth shutout of the season collecting one save in net for the Ichabods.
Swanson had three shots in the match as did
Morgan El-Attrache.
Cadence Bourne had two shots with both coming on goal.
