TOPEKA, Kan. -- A goal in the eighth minute by the visiting RiverHawks was the difference as the Washburn Ichabods fell 1-0 to Northeastern State on Sunday at Yager Stadium. Washburn will return to action on Friday when they continue MIAA play against Missouri Western at 6 p.m. on the Washburn campus.
Northeastern State's Jennifer Cudjoe scored her sixth goal of the season unassisted 7:37 into the match from 20 yards out unassisted for the lone goal of the day.
Washburn's
Kaitlin Minnich held the RiverHawks (8-2-0, 3-1-0 MIAA) scoreless the remainder of the way picking up two saves facing eight shots overall. Washburn finished with seven shots in the match as
Rachel Kulhanek had two for the Ichabods.
Cadence Bourne and
Morgan El-Attrache recorded the two shots on goal for the Ichabods (2-6-2, 1-3-0 MIAA).
Washburn outshot the RiverHawks 6 to 3 in the second half. Jordan Woodruff had two saves for Northeastern State recording the shutout.
