NORMAN, Okla. -- The Washburn Ichabods fell in their only exhibition game of the season on the road to No. 8 Oklahoma 112-62 in the Lloyd Noble Center. The Ichabods will open the regular season at NCAA No. 1 ranked Augustana in Las Vegas.
In the first half the Ichabods trailed 53-39 at the break after a 3-pointer by the Sooners at the buzzer wrapped up a 6-0 run to end the half. Washburn led 14-13 with with 15:24 and by three early in the first half.Â
Javion Blake scored 11 first half points hitting 4 of 6 shots including 3 of 3 from behind the 3-point arch.
Jeremy Lickteig and
Christian Ulsaker each had seven. Washburn shot 44 percent in the first half hitting 12 of 27 shots while the Sooners were 17 of 35 hitting 49 percent of their shots. OU also had a 24 to 17 rebounding advantage in the first half.
In the second half the Sooners put 59 points while holding the Ichabods to 23 points in the win. Washburn was limited to 9 of 24 shooting in the second half. The Sooners also forced the Ichabods into 24 turnovers in the game leading to 47 points for the Sooners in the win.
Washburn was led by Blake's 15 points and
Christian Ulsaker scored 10 along with
Brady Skeens.Â
The Sooners were led by Buddy Hield's 20 points leading six Oklahoma players in double figures.
Overall the Sooners shot 49 percent from the field and hit 15 of 28 3-pointes in the game. Washburn finished 21 of 51 for a 41 percent average. The Sooners also had a 52 to 27 advantage on the glass as well.
