Taylor Ignoto and
Casyn Buchman each hit the 20-point mark Thursday night against Central Oklahoma but the Bronchos shot 53 percent agaisnt the Ichabods in a 75-64 win at Schendel Court in Lee Arena.
Washburn fell to 15-8 and 7-8 in the MIAA while the Bronchos improved to 15-9 and 8-7 in the league. The Ichabods will resume action Saturday at 5 p.m. at home against Northeastern State in their PINK OUT game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Ignoto was 8 of 16 from the field and she hit four 3-pointers for 21 points. Buchman hit three 3s and was 6 of 14 overall for 20 points. Duvall led Washburn with eight rebounds but she was held to four points.
The Ichabods only lead of the game came in the opening minutes.
Erika Lane hit a 3-pointer at 16:05 to give Washburn a 12-7 lead but the Bronchos erased that lead four minutes later and held on the rest of the way. A 13-3 run late in the half put them up by double digits and they led 40-28 at halftime.
Washburn never got within single digits in the second half. The Bronchos took a game-high 21-point lead with 11:27 remaining. Washburn got within 10 on a layup from Ignoto with 1:37 left but UCO's Olivia Mason hit a 3-pointer right after that to end the threat.
The Bronchos shot 54 percent in the second half after a 52 percent effort in the first half. The .527 shooting percentage was the highest given up by Washburn this year.
Four of UCO's five starters scored in double figures with Julia Mason leading her team with 15.
Washburn shot 12 of 20 from the free throw line while UCO was 10 of 11. Both teams shot just over 30 percent from 3-point range.
