DURANT, Okla. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team was a perfect 2-0 after a pair of wins over Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Oklahoma Regional Crossover. Washburn wraps up the three-day even on Sunday.
Game 1 - WU 7, TAMU-Kingsville 2Washburn was down 2-0 after the Javelinas scored a pair in the top of the second inning but the Ichabods came back with four runs in the third inning with RBI doubles by Cassidy Merriman,
Lauren Thimmesch and
Jordan Erickson. The Ichabods added three in the bottom of the fourth as
Marina Quimby drove in a run with a single as did Erickson.
Quimby picked up the complete game win allowing two earned runs scatter nine hits.
Game 2 - WU 2, TAMU-Commerce 1Taylor Zimmerman's RBI double in the top of the fifth turned out to be the winning run as Washburn won 2-1.
Washburn was up 1-0 in the third inning when Quimby drove in Megan Stegman with an RBI single.
The two runs was all the offense Thimmesch would need as she improved to 3-0 in the circle allowing three hits and one run in the win striking out six.
