First serve . . . • The Washburn Ichabod men's tennis team returns to the court on Friday at Newman when they will travel to Wichita to face the Jets.
• The Ichabods are coming off a 5-4 win over East Central in their last match on Feb. 7 in Springfield, Mo.
• Newman is 4-3 this season and have lost its last two matches 5-4 including a loss to East Central on Feb. 15.
Drop shots . . . • The Ichabods are 31-27 in singles play this season and have gone 9-13 in doubles play this year.

Blake Hunter and
Martin Wieand are tied for the team lead with eight singles wins this season with identical 8-4 records.
Matt Barlow has a 6-4 singles record.

Dario Munoz-Poletti clinched the winning flight against East Central at No. 6 singles giving the Ichabods the 5-4 win.
• In doubles play, the duo of
Matt Barlow and
Blake Hunter are 5-3 while the team of
Trey Horton and
Martin Wieand are 2-4 this season.
• Both Hunter and Wieand reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Tennis Tournament last fall in Springfield in singles play.
Coaching . . . Former Ichabod tennis player
Lance Lysaught is in his first season as the Ichabod head coach. He started the Ottawa tennis program from scratch going 9-17 for the Braves. Overall he is 10-22 as a collegiate head coach in third season and 1-1 in his first season at Washburn.
Up next . . . The Ichabods will return to action on Feb. 20 when they will face Newman at 10 a.m. in Wichita, Kan., before returning home for a Feb. 28 match against McPherson College at 2 p.m.
