WICHITA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's tennis team fell 5-3 to Newman on Friday afternoon in Wichita. The Ichabods will be back in action on Feb. 28 against McPherson in Topeka.
Washburn (1-2) was down 2-1 after doubles as the duo of
Martin Wieand and
Trey Horton picked up an 8-6 win at No. 2. Wieand also picked up a point in singles winning at No. 1 topping Newman's Eduardo Santos 6-4, 2-6 and 13-11 in the super tiebreaker.
Blake Hunter recorded Washburn's other point at No. 3 singles topping Evgeniy Kim 6-4, 6-1.
