First serve . . . • The Washburn Ichabod women's tennis team will open the 2015 schedule with No. 29-ranked Drury on Friday before facing East Central the following day in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Center.
• The Ichabods enter the match with an 0-1 record after losing their first dual of the season on Oct. 5 to Upper Iowa 5-4.
• The Ichabods will be without senior
Casyn Buchman until the end of basketball season.
Drop shots . . . • The Ichabods have gone 24-23 so far this season in three tournaments and the lone dual match with Upper Iowa. In dual matches the Ichabods are 3-3 this season in singles play.

Casyn Buchman recorded six wins in tournament play to increase her career singles win total to 50 matches.

Maria Moral Carretero picked up four wins and
Jodie Blackim and Maggie Pulm each recorded three wins in the fall.
• As a team the Ichabods were 10-7 in doubles play going 9-5 in tournament action.
• In doubles the Ichabods were 10-7 in the fall as
Jodie Blackim and Casyn Bucman were 6-1 combined in tournament play.
• The duo of
Gwen Shepler and
Nzingha Banks recorded two wins.
Coaching . . . Former Ichabod tennis player
Lance Lysaught is in his first season as the Ichabod head coach. He started the Ottawa tennis program from scratch going 11-17 for the Braves. Overall he is 11-18 as a collegiate head coach and 0-1 in his first season at Washburn.
Up next . . . The Ichabods will return to action on Feb. 20 when they will face Newman at 10 a.m. in Wichita, Kan., before returning home the following day to take on McPherson College at 2 p.m.
