ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team opened the MWSU Regional Crossover with a pair of wins topping Northern State 10-1 and then knocking off No. 14-ranked Winona State in the second game. Washburn continues play on Saturday with games against Wayne State and Missouri Southern in non-conference games.
Game 1 - Washburn 10, Northern State 1 (5 innings)The Washburn Ichabods used a six-run fourth inning propelling themselves to a 10-1 win over Northern State in the opening game. Washburn went up 3-0 after the first inning after
Lauren Thimmesch drove in
Cassidy Merriman with a single to left after Merriman doubled.
Jordan Erickson's 2-run homer, her seventh of the season, drove in Thimmesch. Washburn added another in the top of the third inning on a solo home run by Thimmesch, her eighth of the season. In the fourth, the Ichabods sent 12 batters to the plate.

Marina Quimby recorded back to back to back to back singles and Merriman drew a bases loaded walk. Thimmesch then cleared the bases with a 3-RBI double. Erickson drove in another run in the inning putting the Ichabods up 10-0. The Wolves added a solo run off starter
Taylor Kemp who picked up her first win of the season while striking out four allowing two hits. Thimmesch finished with 5 RBI going 3 for 3 with a single, double and a home run scoring three times as well. Erickson drove in three.
Game 2 - Washburn 5, #14 Winona State 0Thimmesch limited the Warriors to five hits and struck out five and
Marina Quimby hit two home runs as the Ichabods topped No. 14-ranked Winona State. The Ichabods (15-8) and Warriors (16-5) were scoreless until the Ichabods scored twice on a 2-run homer by Quimby after Stegman singled to lead off the inning.Washburn added three more in the fifth with one coming on Quimby's solo home run and a 2-RBI single by Zimmerman putting Washburn up 5-0 as the Ichabods scored two unearned runs in the inning. Washburn had nine hits overall with Quimby recording three and Merriman and Zimmerman each recording two.
