ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The No. 26-ranked Washburn Ichabods'
Tanner Kilmer pitched 7 1/3 innings of shutout baseball helping the Ichabods earn a 2-2 series split with a 2-0 win at Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon. Washburn returns to action on Tuesday with a single nine inning game at Falley Field against Newman starting at 5 p.m.
Kilmer scattered five hits striking out two getting 13 ground ball outs improving to 3-2 on the season. He pitched an inning in relief on Saturday night picking up his third save of the season against the Lions (13-16, 7-9 MIAA).
Both of Washburn's (20-8, 14-6 MIAA) runs came in the sixth inning.
Connor Crimmins was hit by a pitch leading off the inning and then scored on a double by
Corey Gragg. The Ichabods final run came after an error by the Lions' first baseman scoring Gragg. The Ichabods were retired in order over the final 3 and 2/3 innings.
Crimmins and Gragg each had two of the Ichabods' four five hits with
Kyle Carnahan picking up the other. The Lions finished with seven hits in the game stranding eight as did the Ichabods.
