TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods came up on the short end of a tightly-contested battle in a 5-4 loss to Lindenwood on Friday at the Washburn Tennis Complex in a match which finished at Kossover Tennis Center. The Ichabods will find out their MIAA Tourney opponent next week.

Washburn was down 2-1 after doubles as Blake Hunter and Matt Barlow picked up an 8-1 win over Yoshikazu Ysa and Johannes Rabenhorst at No. 1 singles. The Ichabods lost in a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles and at No. 3 doubles, the Ichabods fell 8-6.

The Ichabods picked up three wins in singles play, but it was not enough as they fell 5-4. Wieand beat Filip Bogic 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Matt Barlow topped Naoufal El Idrissi 6-1, 6-2. Dario Munoz-Poletti topped Nicholas Bruenger 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. The Lions clinched the 5-4 win with their win at No. 6 singles.
