ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Washburn soccer team trailed early in a 1-0 loss to Missouri Western Friday evening in St. Joseph, Mo.
Missouri Western wasted little time attacking the Washburn defense attempting 12 shots overall in the first half. Halfway through the period one shot wiggled its way to the back of the net to put the Griffons up 1-0 inside the 25
th minute.
Little changed after the break when Missouri Western employed much of the same strategy. As time dwindled shot attempts from
Morgan El-Attrache and
Olivia Grasso failed to find the back of the net resulting in Washburn falling to Missouri Western 0-1.
Kaitlin Minnich played every minute in goal for Washburn recording five saves on fifteen shots faced. Washburn is now 8-6-1 on the season and 4-4 in conference play while Missouri Western improves to 10-5 and 5-3 in MIAA play.
Up next, Washburn will continue its road trip with a visit to Northwest Missouri State on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
