Ichabods Fall in Regular Season Finale 3-0 to Fort Hays State

HAYS, Kan. – The Washburn soccer teams lack of momentum once again plagued it in a 3-0 loss to Fort Hays State Sunday morning.

The Ichabods put up a strong showing defensively in the first frame holding the Tigers to four shots, but FHSU came out strong in the second period battering goalkeeper Kaitlin Minnich with 9 shots.

Washburn allowed a season-high three second half goals in the loss kicked off with a goal by Dani Harris of FHSU inside the 52nd minute.  Back-to-back goals from Fort Hays State in the 70th and 71st minutes closed the door on the Ichabods and handed the team its second loss of the weekend.

Minnich played every minute in goal for the Ichabods racking up 6 saves. Cadence Bourne led Washburn with two shots one of which was on goal.

Washburn drops to 9-8-1 on the season and 5-6 in MIAA play while Fort Hays State improves to 14-3-1 overall and 10-1 in conference.
