ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods lost on Wednesday night to Missouri Western falling 74-66 at the MWSU Fieldhouse. The Ichabods will wrap up the regular season at Emporia State on Saturday.

The Ichabods led by four at the break at 34-30 after hitting 4 of 8 3-point attempts shooting 44 percent from the field compared to the Griffons shooting 7 of 20 from the field.

After Brady Skeens put the Ichabods up five at 36-31 with 19:34 to play, the Griffons used an 18-6 run over the next 8:21 taking a 49-42 lead with 11:13 to play.

With the Griffons leading 58-54 with 5:44 to play after a couple Western free throws, Christian Ulsaker hit a pair of free throws and Javion Blake hit a 3-pointer putting Washburn up 59-58 with 4:46 remaining.

However the Ichabods were outscored 16-7 the rest of the way as the Griffons were 9 of 12 from the free throw line going 3 of 4 from the field and Washburn was 2 of 4 from both the field and the free throw line as the Griffons held on for the eight-point win.

The Griffons finished the game 33 off 44 from the free throw line compared to 15 of 27 from the line for the Ichabods in the game as Washburn was whistled for three more fouls in the contest.

Washburn was led by Skeens who scored 17 points adding eight rebounds and Blake scored 16 hitting 4 of 8 3-point attempts.

Washburn (14-12, 10-11 MIAA) finished 22 of 48 from the field hitting 7 of 19 3-pointers while the Griffons were 17 of 42 overall and 7 of 23 from deep.

The Griffons (10-17, 8-13 MIAA) turned 18 Ichabod turnovers into 20 points while holding a 31 to 29 advantage on the glass.
