ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team won its fourth-straight game topping Mary 3-1 wrapping up the Apple Market Regional Crossover at Missouri Western with a 4-1 overall record. Washburn returns to action on Tuesday at Newman in Wichita.
After a scoreless first inning, the Ichabods, who evened their record at 12-12, took a 2-0 lead on a 2-run homer by
Haylee Marsteller scoring
Marina Quimby who singled earlier in the inning.
Mary cut the lead in half with a solo home run in the fourth inning, but the Ichabods went back up by two on a solo home run by
Lexie Myers, her first collegiate homer.
Ashley Wills improved her record to 6-6 pitching three scoreless innings in relief allowing only two hits with a walk.
Cassidy Merriman led off the game with a single reaching base for the 22nd game in a row.
Lexie Myers led Washburn with two hits reaching base three times in the game.
The second scheduled game on Sunday with Wayne State was canceled.
